Creating art assets for a new Amiga game

Designing Info panels...



Well, this blogging lark is new to me so please be patient while I try to make this as interesting as I can. :)


I did a very crude doodle of the basic hud layout on a scrap of paper when I had the spark of inspiration. Looking at them now it won't translate to anyone else what was going through my mind I am sure, they look so chaotic but here is the very start of our inventory/stats screens.

This is actually a refined version of the original sketch...

This is the result of several attempts to clean up/arrange things...


And this is the final design for the panels, with examples
showing Magnus where there various pieces of information
should go. 


And there you have it! I can't remember how long this has taken to get to this stage...probably a lot longer than I originally intended, but that's the creative process: take the estimated time to create something...multiply that by 4 and a possible further multiplication of 2 and you're sort of right.
